Don't get me wrong. I'm not knocking Kinect. My comment was supposed to be taken as a light-hearted "heh!". I'm actually one of few here that's excited about and willing to embrace the new input methods introduced by all these companies (and Kinect is at the front of my interest) - I'm just saying that if it's $250 then a good share of hobbyist developers will simply ignore it as an option and just pick up the Xbox 360 Kinect and use open source drivers and code on the internet to get involved in neat Kinect development projects. However, as I mentioned earlier in this thread I'm not completely up to snuff on all the latest tech announcements at the moment so perhaps this price means this release of Kinect comes with more than just the sensor with some enhanced hardware (if even that). I'll look into it. |
Nothing against your post or you in general..I was just saying that maybe companies know more about their own products than me or anyone else. eg. IF they see demand in Kinect for Windows than their price may not be so extreme as it seems or at least from their perspective.
