Basically what Im getting at is as long as Sony continues to offer a nice balance in terms of large and smaller games, with the style, scope and such being varied enough across the board, then I dont see how they can possibly be doing themselves a disservice by offering games that rival whats out on the 360/ps3/wii.  It makes sense to me, and is a natural evolution for portable gaming.  The 3ds may have more portable type games available, but there are still a few games that can be considered console like experiences such as 00T 3d, the upcoming snake eater port and from early reports, the new zelda currently in development will be more akin to its console counterparts.  There is nothing wrong with trying to rewrite the formula, so long as you do not alienate the portable gaming audience that has carried that part of the industry thus far, which Sony is clearly trying to avoid.  That is all.

Edit:

p.s. And if anything, playing OOT on my 3ds has convinced me that console like games can and will definitely work on portable systems.  The portable type games are whats going to get these systems into gamers hands, the console type games are whats going to keep them coming back for more.
