How was it one of the worst setups to call balanced?  Personally, I see no reason why town shouldn't win in just about every circumstance with full participation with the setup we had.

24 hour time limits/ lynches by majority of votes cast at day end and not of total players. That even with more active players still puts the game way more in mafias favor.
