From what we know the Wii U is at best 3 times faster than a X360,

Didn't you and I already have this conversation? You are being patently and willfully disngenuous, here. Cut it out.

We did? I honestly don't remember. And Im sorry if I previously admitted that there's a possibility for the Wii to be more than 3 times faster than a X260. Did I?

In a roundabout way. Remember? Obviously the 360 is only 3 times more powerful than the PS2 or Xbox, based on all those barely-upgraded multiplats it got early on.

Oh, now I remember. I admitted that I erroneously used the upcoming current-gen multiplatform games to the Wii U such as Assassin's Creed and Aliens Colonial Marines as an argument that the Wii U is hardly stronger than the X360. But I believe I also said that I instead was leaning on the rumors that the Wii U is using a GPU equivalent to a Radeon 4850, which is rufly 3 times stronger than the GPU in the X360.

Well, it has been suggested that it was based on the Radeon R700 which was used in graphics cards that had performance as high as 4 times what is seen by the HD consoles. Whatever chip they use will likely have been heavily customized over the past 3 years, will likely be in a system that has been designed to minimize bottlenecks, and software running on it will likely be heavily optimized to maximize performance.

While we can't know how powerful this hardware is without far more information, it is unlikely that it would be less than 4 times the processing power of the current HD console's GPUs.

Your post makes a lot of sense but you just said this discussion is moronic a few posts earlier.

Yes and no ...

I was mostly referring to the "The XBox 720 will be way more powerful than the PS4, which will be way more powerful than the Wii U, even though we know nothing about the XBox 720 or PS4"

There is enough information about the Wii U to speculate about how powerful it will be, even that is mostly speculation about what we believe Nintendo will do rather than any real understanding of the hardware. With what we do know, I think most people would accept that it is possible for the Wii U to be between 2 and 16 times as powerful as the HD consoles, but it is most likely that its performance will be somewhere between 4 and 8 times that of the HD consoles.

In contrast, we know nothing of the PS4 or XBox 720, and I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that either manufacturer decided to release a very modest system to focus on producing an inovative low cost machine; and, at the same time, I wouldn't be too surprised to see either manufacturer produce a high end system either. In my opinion, these companies would favour a lower end system if they were moving forward with a one console strategy (producing a system to target both core gamers and the broader market), and they would choose a higher end system if they were using a two console strategy (re-launch the PS3/XBox 360 as a low end system while using the PS4/XBox 720 to target core gamers). Being that I believe a two console strategy will fail, I'm more inclined to believe they will choose to produce a lower end system. But, regardless of what I believe, this is driven by 100% pure speculation without any information or credible rumours; and it is therefore pretty moronic to argue about it.
