He's right though. 360 has a better GPU. And it has a smaller OS footprint which is a definite plus when you only have 512mb of RAM (+ 10MB EDRAM in 360's case). The faster PS3 ram speed you mention only applies to the main ram not the vram. The best looking PS3 games are the ones which use the CELL in conjuction with the RSX for graphics and use the CELL to quickly stream textures from the blu ray disc. Hence UC/GOW/KZ look amazing. |
Oops, didn't talk about GPU. Yeah, GPU is slightly better, but again this is more than made up for by offloading onto the cell, multiplatform devs have been doing this for the last 3 years, though obviously not nearly as much as 1st party do, meaning most games look identical on both platforms, and the devs that go the extra mile and offload more onto the CELL get significantly better looking games, like the examples you mentioned. Another way PS3 makes up for it is having many uncompressed textures on the Blu-ray, meaning the GPU doesn't need to use much of its power for texture decompression.
Again, pretty much every dev has figured this out and utilizes it at least enough to make games look identical to 360, they've been doing it for a while now. Like I said most devs don't go the extra mile and really take advantage of the CELL, but when they do, games look slightly better on PS3.
