I think the slow on land thing is a common misconception, one that probably gets people into trouble. I like crocs too, much cooler animal but I think the Hippos are pretty tough. Adult Hippos don't have any natural predators, besides man of course.

Well being able to run up to (19 mph) over short distances is pretty damn fast for such a large beast with small, stocky legs.  I suppose having 4 legs makes it a little easier to gain stride.  However, if a human is being safe they should be able to notice if any Hippo is threatening.  Maintaining a safe distance is key.  The Hippo's appearance has fooled many humans that aren't aware of what they are capable of.  I mainly commented on being slow due to their appearance (somewhat laid back attitude most of the times) even though they can outrun a human.  However, I don't think a Hippo will being running a marathon anytime soon.  I would never dare get into any boat in Hippo territory.

Yeah I've watched some of those "I Shouldn't be Alive" type of shows and I did see one where there was a Hippo attack that led to a Croc attack. First thing I always think of is that there is no way in hell I'd be going on the water in Hippo territory. But then again, what are the people who live in these areas supposed to do, I mean it's not realistic to think they should all stay away from water, always. Africa and Australia are no joke with all of the deadly creatures that roam slither crawl and swim, it must be crazy to live in some of the places with higher concentrations of dangerous critters.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
