Personally I can't say yes, since I met my wife with online gaming (Everquest)
But I agree it is a lot more fun to play in the same room. The best times I had was playing half-life death match, unreal tournament and age of empires in lan setup, next to countless splitscreen and 2 player on screen games.
Playing together and with people online is great too, for example WoW on 2 pc's, LBP, splitscreen resistance 2 8 player co-op.

I only play gt5 online nowadays, competitive shooters are not fun online. Dark souls co-op is nice, but I hate the pvp. It seems there are only farmers or griefers left. I'm stuck in Anor Londo. I need some allies to get past the double boss, but every time I go human to summon help, within 60 seconds some high level ass invades and kills us with 1 blow while my most powerful attacks take 5% of their health at most. What's the point. I'm going to try it in offline mode tonight with an npc ally, maybe that will work.

More co-op games please!
