However if that 500k was the only shipment last year, Vita selling about 450k really is as bad as most site try to make us believe(though they did the same with 3DS..). Software sales are dissapointing though again same with the 3DS, and the Vita doesn't really have any major titles right know(Uncharted is a big franchise but not that popular in Japan).

That's not really the way it works. You're supposed to sell out of, or nearly sell out of, your first shipment in launch weekend. Sony had multiple shipments prepared for post-launch I'm sure, which retailers obviously won't be ordering if they aren't selling well, and that means a huge hit on Sony finanically. Now, two and a half weeks after launch, the system still has yet to sell 500K, and won't have sold 500K by the end of this week either (it sold 42K last week, bringing the total to 439K lifetime).

Not saying the Vita is going to be a flop (way too early for that; look at the 3DS), but its Japanese launch has certainly been a flop.
