What I understood from the OP is that he wanted to get rid of his wife for a while so that he could play Dark Souls. The worst thing for him would be to get a game with splitscreen because she'd want him to play with her all the time. Zing!

If what he wants is too get rid of her wife, I know other things... athough none of them is a game...

I love playing games with my lady. We just recently went through Streets of Rage 1 and 2 together. I just don't really like racing games, and she hates games with lots of talking and story. She's also good at them (kicks my ass at Mario Kart Wii).
