#7. Resident Evil 4 (GC, Wii)
When I heard the Resident Evil series was going in a brand new direction I was intrigued. What I read from preview articles had me dying to play that game and when it came out I was rewarded with one of my all-time favorite game. In the past, part of the tension in RE games was helped by the fact that the tank controls and dodgy aiming made sure even only a few zombies could pose a problem.
Resident Evil 4 changed all that. For the first time you were in full control of your aim and it was now possible to deal with zombies more effectively. To counter balanced this new freedom, Leon now faces much more capable "zombies" and a whole lot more of them.
I was hooked from the first action sequence in the village. This game feature incredible pacing, when you start getting sick of the village you move on to the castle when the castle gets old you move on to the island. The boss fights are inventive and some of them are just plain scary (Salazar's Left(Right?) Hand always made a great impression on me).
While the game retains it's cheesy storyline, I can still get into the story and Leon and Ada are two of my favorite RE characters.
