iOS has had malware and plenty of security issues as well... even with their locked down application system.
Android is having issues for the same reasons Windows has more issues.. its the largest marketshare and is getting the greatest amount of attention.
Android is linux based and if all the past years of hacker conventions have proven anything its... 1) nothing is perfect and 2) linux always outdoes Apple/MS in security.
