I wanted an Eyetoy back in the PS2 days but I never picked one up. I did wind up getting an Xbox Live Vision Camera and playing a couple of games that used that as a controller. From the outside, looking in, it would look like it had the same potential as a Kinect. Couldn't be further from the truth. As a controller, the Xbox Live Vision Camera was some bullshit. I assume (assume being the key word, here) that the Eyetoy was equally as shitty. Kinect, on the other hand, is pretty sweet.
Maybe the Eyetoy had some basic ideas and some promise but Kinect delivered (though not entirely, yet) on that promise.
