Geez if testers only get paid around $40-$50 thousand then why the fuck don't devs hire more of them? So many games come out broken as fuck. I appreciate that most games from big publishers get patched pretty quickly but it would still be nice to have a game not needing patched Day 1.

Especially CoD games. They really should hire ACTUAL GAMERS to test the online multiplayer and give feedback. Honestly they wouldn't even have to pay 99% of gamers to test CoD games early, people would be happy to do it.

That usuallly ends up being a HORRIBLE idea.  Early Betas usually end up with people wigging out about how shitty and broken the game is, even when told ahead of time it's going to be shitty and broken and your beta testing it.

Well that is true, but just imagine how much better a game like Modern Warfare 2 could have been if they had a public beta or had hired some real gamers (like the well known youtube Call of Duty guys) to play the game a couple months before launch, they could have found out how bad things like commando and one man army were before launch and taken them out. If Call of Duty wants to stay on top they really need to take the advice of their loyal gamers before we all switch to other series like Battlefield or Halo.
