Patcher probably thinks that the Christmas release plus the stronger launch library would give Vita an advantage. However, he fails to acknowledge that, unlike 3DS, Vita faces strong competition against the 3DS that, right now, has a much stronger game library than Vita's. Also, many people will choose a single platform per generation and many of those already chose the 3DS just because it was already available. It also doesn't help the fact one of PSP's main titles was released to the 3DS a week earlier and its sequel is being promoted as a 3DS exclusive.
I still think it is possible to the Vita to beat the 3DS in the first three months. However, it would be much more difficult than what Pachter is thinking.
