I do not know if they have fallen in quality, but i do know I cannot take the annoying anime style characters anymore. All my favorite games early on last gen were Eastern JRPGs that I loved. Eventually they all became generic and lately I just find them corny. I think the west will continue to dominate in gaming sales for many decades until China starts making games and buying consoles in mass quantity. For me in the games I played the quality was horrible, (for the most part there are a few exceptions) so for me it fell greatly. I do not care as the west makes so many more great, original, action packed games with good stories anyways so I do not care that the Japanese are struggeling to appeal to the Western market.
