That's double the PSP debut sales and almost 4x the PS3.
Impressive.

Well to be fair, PSP only had 1 day sales vs 2 day sales that that the 3DS and PSvita had.

Just for my own understanding, where does it say that psp had only one, or that the reported number was for only one day?

It seems odd that famitsu would say that the vita opening beat the psp opening by double, if in fact it was simlpy because it was 2 days vs 1.

PSP launched on a Sunday. Vita launched on Saturday. PSP launch week contains 1 day worth of data, PSvita launch week contains 2 days of data. Launch week is defined as the launch period before the week ended.

Here is an article if you want http://andriasang.com/comzfc/ps_vita_sales/

Main point: PSP: 166,074 units (covers just 12/12/2004)

Further Note: Also unlike IGN, that actually used 2X that number to show PSP doing better. The first day sales typically are higher than the second sales.

Here is a link to the IGN article: http://vita.ign.com/articles/121/1215186p1.html

Edit: also sorry about poor grammar, playing skyrim and typing here.

Yes I understand first day x second day sales, I was just wondering why famitsu said it doubled without noting the date. I saw the Japanese article and didn't see that specific date listed.

And yes, I also know it's logical to look at the sunday vs saturday, but unless I see something on paper, I hate to assume.
