The Conspiracy Theory Thread - This week: Ghosts

Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory - and I've got knowledge of a wide range of them to discuss with you - I'll be making a new one of these every week. :)

I'll post up the facts, and then you have to make your own decision on the matter. This week, I feel that the point of discussion should be something that isn't really a conspiracy as such, but still something very interesting  that gets a diverse response from different people- ghosts. 

- For thousands of years, humans have contemplated death and beliefs about the afterlife. One of the key beliefs here is some sort of "soul" that remains after death. However, scientists have found no proof that such life exists.

- Self professed psychics have reported that ghosts can be seen by those with a heightened sensitivity can sense their presence. The abliity is believed to be either inherited or through near death experiences. On the other hand, some say that things such as electromagnetic fluctuations are responsible for sightings.

- Some paranormal investigators claim that limitations in our technology mean that we can't capture footage of ghosts - it's only possible to see them with the human eye.

- Quantum physisists have proven that we still don't understand fully the interaction of human mind and matter at the quantum level - ie. consciousness. However, it's a big leap from being uncertain about the true nature of consciousness, to believing in the existance of ghosts.

- Joan Forman hypothesised that the beams that we interpret as ghosts may be infact individuals from another point in time, rather than the deceased. He, and others like him, believe that due to some anomoly, people are momentarilary able to see objects from past/present. However, all the evidence concerning this is anecdotal, and there is no scientific proof. There is no place that gives everyone a ghostly experience and no phychic can prove their powers to the scientific world - does this mean that they can't exist, however? 

- The possiblility of a 4th dimension has been proven through mathmatics - are ghosts are part of another dimension that briefly enter our own? Would this confirm the possibility of an afterlife?

- If there are so many people around the world who believe in ghosts, why are we stilll unable to prove it? Also, if they do exist, why is their belief so widespread, even in the modern age?

 

Ghosts - just a case of electromagnetic pulses and general confusion, or something more than that? Have you ever had a paranormal experience yourself?
