Reasonable on 17 December 2011
Early release, probably judged too similar to LBP (although in fact it actually represents a bigger jump over LBP than any other sequel this year has respective to its franchise) and I feel the fact it's a fun, cheery jaunt just doesn't seem to sit well on HD consoles right now vs gritty titles. I also think that it did feel a little less impactful - the changes to the game engine were fantastic and the new editing a massive jump, but the campaign and evocation of the world of LBP actually felt a little weaker somehow IMO.
So while it's arguably a shame - and I've definitely seen worse games nominated here and there - it's also probably not a huge surprise either.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
