I don't really disagree with your post but I saw this and just had to comment on it.

I had a 1994 Chevy Cavalier beater with 228,000 miles on it. But really it was a freak of nature car that in all rights shouldn't had been running for the entire period that I had it lol.

That's still nothing compared to a typical Honda or Toyota. One of my highschool friends drives the same Toyota 4 Runner he drove in highschool, it has 450,000km (270,000 miles) and run smoothly. Another of my friends Honda Civics is at 350,000km (210,000 miles) and it runs fine. My neighbours is at 300,000km (180,000 miles) and runs fine.

I have a BMW 318i and it's at 280,000km (170,000 miles or so) and I have no engine issues, no oil leaks, and everything works.

For german and Japanese cars, 300,000 (180,000 miles) is the expected minimum. For an american chevy or dodge (even ford) it's almost impossible.

It's because of Planned Obselence. Ever notice how a 70's Dodge doesn't have a 100,000 digit in the odometer? Engines weren't expected to last that long. Parents used to be faithful to American cars, but since then went benz, they never went back (but ae considering lexus now).

Like I said I didn't quote you for an argument because frankly I agree with most of it. I just responed to you asking if anyone's ever seen a Chevy or Dodge with over 180k miles.
