But as history shows us they are only a vocal forum minority since sales numbers never support it.

A RTS on classic controllers would be lame and terrible but  Wii-U's tablet is very well suited for RTS games (and MMOs! =D).

Nintendo will no doubt prove it with Pikmin 3. Pikmin 1 and 2 sold well enough.

Where they have been when all previous console RTSes flopped ?

The only one even remotly succesfull was Halo wars and it was mostly because it had Halo in name.

Who would want to play RTS games with a classic controller? (besides Pikmin).
