Nobody actually answered your question, so I'm going to. Mass Effect 3 comes with three distinct "modes" you can play in. "Action" mode streamlines the story, basically simplifying the choices you need to make and turning conversations into somewhat-interactive cutscenes. Its focus is on the action, on kicking ass, and it treats the story as something you just want to get past. "Story" mode makes the action easily passable in all forms, while giving full access to all the conversation trees and whatnot. It treats action as a stopgap between converstions and choices that affect the plot. "RPG" mode is like the first two games, where you're in full control of everything. You go through all battles with full control, you go through all story sequences with full control. It's not an "either/or" scenario, because you can have both. |
Does story mode still give you all the RPG elements but shorten the corridor shooting? A mode with a couple of difficult tactical fights with increased xp instead of killing dozens of groups in a row would be my kind of thing. Making the action easily passable, yet still with the same killcount in the end doesn't make it any better.
Should be a great game anyway. A great way to start the new year.
