I just finished Uncharted 3. Haven't played the multiplayer modes yet, but that's not what interests me most of Uncharted so I'm gonna comment on my SP experience.

Like others have said, it's practically Uncharted 3= Uncharted 2. It's difficult to put one above the other.

In Uncharted 2's favour: It was more of a surprise than Uncharted 3. I think having so much information of U3 also may have spoiled the experience a bit, since I knew the main set pieces. Also, I miss having medals and unlockable extras like slow motion, etc in U3. Why didn't they have that? It was so easy to implement (I'm sure they didn't have to reprogram much, if anything) and yet they didn't for some reason. And it took me 12h to beat U2 but only 10h to beat U3.

In U3's favour, there were some really great set pieces that I thought were even better than those in U2. Some new gameplay additions like melee fights, being able to throw grenades back, shooting while climbing, chases... were nice. The graphics were noticeably better than those in U2 at times, just amazing. The animations were also much better. I like that they gave the characters a bit more depth. The puzzles were much better than those in U2. I think the musical score is also better.

So yeah, U2 SP=U3 SP imo. Which is not necessarily bad as U2 was amazing and hard to beat and had the surprise factor that U3 didn't.

So just cause UC2 had the surpirse factor and 2 more hours of singleplayer you make it a tie. Despite Uncharted 3 looked viusally better, gameplay mechanics have improved by a mile, puzzels and music was much better (all in your opinion) you gave it a tie?!? Anyways the MP in UC2 isn't that great but UC3 its the best one I and many others on this site have ever played. You should really check it out

I'll try the multiplayer for sure.

And yes, just the fact that I totally didn't expect what I experienced with U2 while I more or less did know what to expect with U3 skewed my opinion a lot, what can I say. Not having the medals and unlockables was annoying which you didn't mention. Anyway, it's not always about better and new gameplay, it's about that impression a new experice gives that is hard to surpass, and honestly if ND asked me how they could've achieved that with me I woulnd't have known what to add to U3. It was just really tough.

But don't get me wrong, the fact that I had as much fun with U3 as with U2 is a great achievement, as both are in the 'this was fucking awesome' category. U3 was as good despite not being as surprising which means they really tried hard to improve the experience. I am actually replaying U3 in crushing at the moment, so I love the game.

I get what you mean now. But I don't think we'll ever see a jump in technology like that ever again until PS4 out or maybe even Xbox 720. Uncharted 1 was a great game no doubt. Although Uncharted 2 - Uncharted jump was sort of like Uncharted = good game and from a good game they made Uncharted 2 = one of the best games of all time. Now think what was expected from Uncharted 3. I really did have a feeling it would get close to or around Uncharted 1's metascore. Getting a 92-93 is still great when it is named as the sequel to one of the best games of all time. Anyways tell me when you tried the online MP. (btw the matchaking isn't exactly great before level 20)
