"the security on a device that he paid for?" good point but he didn't pay for mine or anybody elses ps3 and when he starts to distribute hacks that affect other users he has to be held accountable in some way... i'm quite sure that had he kept his hacks to himself and his as you say "device that he paid for" sony nor any of the ps3 community would've cared about him but he didn't his actions affected the entire ps3 community "Are you really going to stand there and say that Sony have a right to do this?" legally yes and i already said it was unfair but of course i'd rather have a console with support for games and cheat free online play as opposed to the opposite ( what goehots actions would've led to going by what happened with psp )... you may disagree but i bought my ps3 ( and i'm guessing most have ) for games not operating systems that can be better supported on a pc |
So now he's also holding a gun to your head to force you to modify your hardware? What kind of retarded logic is this, exactly? If you don't want the damn hack, don't put it on your PS3. Problem solved.
The "entire ps3 community", by which you mean PSN, is a service that Sony supplies, and therefore they DO have a right to secure that. Once again, the problem isn't CLIENT SIDE SECURITY, it's SERVER SIDE SECURITY. Am I going to have to repeat this a dozen times every time this conversation comes up? For fucks sake...
