Cinema was simply the medium that started to get dumbed down to appeal to the lowest common action orientated denominator first and gaming is simply following faster and activily contributing. I'd also note Hollywood and US "entertainment" cinema does not equal the totality. Hopefully ND are thinking a lot less of CoD and/or Transformers and a whole lot more like Alien or Let The Right One In (in terms of depth of characterisation and narrative context). I also wish when a developer wants to try something people wouldn't argue with the same boring all generalities. They aren't trying to make every game story lead nor is that their goal. They want their game to be that way and they want to offer better than the medium has historically in that regard. Is it really necessary to start panicing for all other genres every time there is a focus by a single developer in a single area? |
Well, that's how it is this gen.
We get cinematic games and people panics. We get motion controls and people panics. Everybody panics.
OT: *panics*
