First of all, some of you might think this thread resembles Simulacrum’s eloquently named thread “So...Whats up for 2012?”, well, you’re WRONG! My thread is plenty different and here’s why.

While I know most of you have a whole shopping list of games, music and movies you’re looking forward to in 2012, I’m so not interested in having you list them all! Okay, maybe I should rephrase that: What I’m interested in is WHY you’re looking forward to these items on your list so I’d rather you list only a few items per category with a paragraph to explain what makes you await their release with eagerness.

Four sentences of the OP. It's not much to ask, people.

Games:

  • World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria (Shut up)

I think I'm capable of blanking out the Pandas running around Orgrimmar if Blizzard keeps its word and actually pulls off an expansion that's more focused on the Alliance/Horde conflict, instead of ending up like the Sue-ridden hippie-fest that was.

Movies:

  • The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

I'm going to go and risk all my credibility (before I even have any) by saying that I've always preferred The Hobbit to The Lord of the Ring books. I don't really know why. Maybe it's The Hobbit's faster pace, the smaller amount of attention paid to irrelevant details, or the fact that The Lord of the Rings revolves mostly around humans, whom I just can't bring myself to be interested in. (Unlike dragons, dwarves, and big hairy men that can transform into massive black bears)

But despite not liking the books, I like the LotR movies. I really like the LotR movies. And this time around, I actually like the source material as well.

I've got a feeling I'm going to like this movie.

  • The Dark Knight Rises

Yeah, right, like I need to explain myself for this.

Books: (Again, shut up)

  • Whatever K.J. Taylor's writing

Probably the only author I care about at all nowadays.
