LittleBigPlanet has performed very well over the holidays. Even the PSP outing a couple years ago did well.

i think Sony overestimated there holiday lineup with R3 being apart of it. i'm sure if they had known R3 was going to perform that bad they would have put LBP2 in the fall lineup as well.

Resistance 2 really damaged the image of the series. Sony knew there wouldn't be much of a splash for R3. If they really wanted to take a risk with it, they should have placed it in either November or December with a monster campaign.
Instead they spent all of money to put Uncharted 3 on every possible channel, numerous times over.
Anyway Sony wouldn't have delayed LBP2 for a full year. There was no need to just because they already had R3, UC3, R&C A41. Plus all the multiplatform releases. LBP2 will have tremendous legs as already seen.
