Agreed, I haven't played it and it looks like a great game, but it seems completely overrated. For such an enjoyable game it is extremely simple and lacks substance, so they definitely don't deserve the "studio of the year award", and I'm not even drawing light to how unplayable the game is.

Simplicity, potentially, given that the combat normally boils down to mashing the hit button, but it definitely does not lack supstance, I assume that @brendude is actually referring to another game...

As far as pure combat goes it is pretty simple but all the other things you can do in the game like alchemy, enchanting, smithing, ect are not simple. In fact many things in Skyrim are quite complicated.
