I'd recommend doing some thorough research for there a few things you might want to consider. If I were to get wireless I'd probably go high end because of the potential for some of the issues wireless can present. I'd like to think that some of the better known brands have the wireless issues worked out pretty well. I've had the Tritton AX Pros for a few years and I love them. http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Precision-Playstation-3-PC/dp/B0017IUFAE I do play on a monitor at a desk though so the wires are of no consequence to me but I could see how it might be a turn off for some. I also just got my kid a pair of Sharkoon X-tatic for X-Mas http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Precision-Playstation-3-PC/dp/B0017IUFAE As far as I can tell these are pretty much the same headset as the AX Pros with some obvious differences in aesthetics. I played on them the other night because I wanted to make sure they worked before wrapping them up. They are also pretty good and definitely more comfortable than the AX Pros but different in they way they sound. In some ways better, some not. Both of these headsets are true 5.1 and not simulated surround.
I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.
