Holy fuck. I was aware of the terrible living conditions for caged animals, but i was unaware of the surprisingly shoddy killing practices
Granted the question of natural life spans for any of these animals is irrelevant, given that their ultimate purpose is food, except for the male chicks. I mean, that's just plain wasteful, whether you have animal morality in mind or not, to have to kill ~50% of them right off the bat shows that you're doing something wrong
