The 10-million plus users of Raptr’s game-tracking application have all chipped in to decide just what game has been played the most for 2011, and it appears that Bethesda’s Skyrimhas taken gold.  Beating out the higher selling Modern Warfare 3, Batman: Arkham Cityand Battlefield 3, the single-player only game has been able to rack up the most play of any game for both PC and consoles.

Breaking down the statistics, Raptr was able to glean that Skyrim took home the top spot for most played RPG while Modern Warfare 3 was able to claim king of the hill for shooters.  What is really surprising, is that Skyrim was still able to take in a higher average session length overall, helping it to win.  Skyrim only beat out MW3 by a 9 percent margin, thanks in part to the 2.92 hours of average playtime per session.

As for other winners, FIFA 12 came home with the top sports game, Arkham City with top open-world game, LA Noire for top new IP, and The Sims Social for top social title of 2012.
