I think the classics will be those games that stood out as defining the consoles they appeared on:
Wii Sports (effectively defined a huge portion of the generation, i.e. motion controls)
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (the definitive FPS of the FPS generation)
Gears of War 1,2 & 3 (the quintessential Xbox 360 3rd-person action games)
Uncharted 1,2 & 3 (the quintessential PS3 3rd-person action-adventure games)
Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 (two of the best Mario games ever made, enough said)
