Id bet one of my testicles that if this game sucked, no one would have said nothing. Just like no one said anything about 06

Nobody said anything about Sonic 2006 because that was before a Sonic game was released on Wii. Hence, we didn't know Sonic games were going to perform so well on Wii yet.

Wii fans are angry because the Wii got ignored. Those who follow sales are especially angry because Sonic games have performed better on the Wii.

did they not get Secret Rings around the same time???

Secret Rings was released about four months later.

Eitherway, Sega should have made all the Sonic games this gen multiplat. I don't see how focusing on certain platforms helped the franchise. Sonic Unleashed for example did pretty well on four platforms and that game kinda sucked.

I have to disagree. Sega would have completely ruined Sonic on HD consoles if they had released Secret Rings and Black Knight they would have done unspeakable damage to Sonic's image on HD consoles.

Sega new that Sonic 2006 could not be ported to Wii without serious downgrading and considering the horrible load times and how awful the game was I can only imagine how large of a disaster it would have been on Wii.

Sonic:The Secret Rings also helped Sega get very close to Nintendo. Sega could make a title that was the best possible Sonic game Wii could handle. They tried to be innovative and bring Sonic in a new direction. Many Sonic fans loved this I thought it was a disaster. Black Knight later on further damaged Sonic's cred on Wii.

But its the exclusive crap Sega gave Nintendo that got them a closer relationship. Sonic and Mario at the Olympics could never have happened had they not given Nintendo some exclusive content. That franchise brought in a shit load of money for Sega and continues to be a golden goose.

If I was Sega. A) I would not have released Sonic 06, it wasn't a quality title I would have ordered a whole rework of the game and a release likely in 07 giving developers a second year to iron it out , get used to the hardware and give gamers the best possible HD Sonic. B) I would have released Colours on PSP, 360, PS3, just because the game was amazing and could have really helped Sega's market share. C) Rather then release Sonic's Genesis collection I would release a Sonic Mega Collection HD (Sonic Mega Collection and Gems collection combined and touched up in HD) D) I would have released Sonic Generations on all platforms including Wii and PSP with a Vita release in Japan.

In the end I am not suggesting Sega should ignore Sony or Microsoft rather they should play their cards better releasing the biggest Sonic games multiplat while giving small exclusives to all three companies, but first and foremost Nintendo due to their strong user base.

Also no the sales of any Sonic game on PS2 are no where near as good as the GameCube versions considering the GC had 100,000 less consumers. Look at the Xbox sales even though the platform outsold GC it was still a disaster and the PS2 sales were not high enough to really suggest that Sony is a strong place for Sonic. Though I must admit Rivals sales on PSP were pretty darn good considering the low hardware sales and even less respectable software sales.

I am guessing Sonic WiiU will be exclusive if Nexbox doesn't come next year. As such I am hoping it is a high quality title and that it helps strengthen Sega's relations with Nintendo. Then maybe a PS4/NexBox exclusive will follow like Sonic 06 did.
