It is in the interests of any country that possesses nukes to align against the acquisition of nukes by other countries, because it helps to weaken their bartering power on the world stage. This is why you see even Russia and China cooperating with UN sanctions initiatives despite their usual stance in favor of letting anti-western countries do as they please.
At the end of the day, the risks of nukes outweigh the benefits (mutually assured destruction extends only so far), and use of them should be limited, as well as proliferation, but at the same time the destabilizing nature of nukes have been overemphasized, and i believe the US and Israel are looking for an excuse to smack Iran more than they care about actual problems that the weapons might pose
