Skyrim Issues? Duh, of course, but has the smoking gun finally been found?

I'm not sure if this is has something to do with the patch or hell breaks lose when you reach level 40 but with 250 points of armor and 270 health I was killed by a single charge attack from a Forsworn Briorheart and a hour later by a single Ice Strom Spell.
