Well everyone knows of Day 1 studios the famed studio that brought us the two Mech Assualt titles for the Xbox, Fracture for Lucas Arts and F.E.A.R.3 for Warner Bros. The studio was hard at work on the new Silent Scope for Konami the title would be the first entry in the series in almost a decade. The game was apparently looking really good and expected to be a huge hit for Konami.

But the Chicago based studio learnt a very hard lesson in game development. You can't rely on your publisher especially when you don't own the IP. It would appear that Konami cancelled Silent Scope and the deal crumbled. In a desperate attempt to save the studio approximately a 100 employees were sacked making up 95% of the studio's Silent Scope team.

The remaining staff belong to a significantly smaller team at Day1 hard at work on the second project they were working on. Though it would appear they haven't gotten a publishing deal yet and this game could be the only thing that saves Day1 from biting the bullet.

Its sad when we have an industry where one deal falls through and an amazing studio is gasping for air and has to lay off 95% of its related staff. Do you love Day1 if so what are your thoughts on this momentous loss? Can Day1 rebound with this second project they had in the works? Or is this going to spell the end of yet another amazing studio? Is Konami to blame or did they have to pull out?
