I dont think a price cut of 17% is a minium price cut.... and it is a hell of a lot more aggressive than no price cut at all.

Given the state of Sony finances I would suggest its a hell of a price cut.

I'm pretty sure nearly everyone believed the $50 price cut would pose a rather passive effect on sales (compared to other cuts) the moment it was announced. Also, percentages usually mean little to consumers compared to the actual quantity of the drop.
