He's the ULTIMATE inangible guy. Somehow finding ways to rally his team to win even though he's not even a competant quarterback classically. Combine that with his strong views and external "To good to be true" comments where he actually puts it out there (like beign a virgin, god, actual charity work that he does vs a foundation etc.) vs say Tiger Woods "He must be a good person because nobody's found anything bad" and you've got what has to be the most frustrating and confusing player to modern sports... ever.
It's like Chuck Hayes ont he rockets who started at center when he was 6'6. Except 100 times better because Tebow is succeeding better against a harder shecdule then his predecessor with a style that often times doesn't even represent the position he's playing. |
Well, I'm not going to defend some of his passes or the third down conversions, but I wouldn't say he played an awful game today. His passing was better, and had a few balls not been dropped, he could have had a couple more completions. His rushing wasn't fantastic (though there were a lot of plays where he rushed), but it helped get the job done in the end. I will admit I meant pretty well relative to his previous games though. :D
It's insane what he's done for the team. Like you said, he's clearly not the best QB in the league, but since he became the starter, Denver's been winning. But it's not just him; the entire team has been doing way better. I think that the effects he's had on the team are much more than just being a great QB on the field. It sounds kinda cheesy, but he's a leader. His teammates believe in him and want to play their hardest for him. He's a nice guy and he's always trying to improve, and his teammates see that. After having gone through so many seasons where Denver has been playing acceptable (mostly) but rather boring football, it's really awesome to see the team now. It feels like we're back in the '97/'98 seasons, even though everyone knows they have a long way to go before they get there again. That's where I think his real value is, and why I want to see him succeed.
