How many of the first three Ratchet games were among the five Ratchet games that sold less than Jak 3? Zero?

The point is that Ratchet sunk lower than Jak ever did and faster as well. SONY's still publishing Ratchet titles and it was a shocker than Jak even got a PSP game a little while back.

That means zero then.

Going into the seventh generation, Sony had to make decisions. IPs that weren't overly successful were put on the backburner and who knows if even R&C would have been continued, if it weren't for Insomniac having enough capacity to work on two games at the same time. Chances are that Sony would have axed that too, because R&C doesn't really fit into a gameplan to compete with Microsoft. That's why Resistance and inFamous were made, that's why Uncharted didn't become as fantasy orientated as it was initially planned by Naughty Dog.

I've got to admit, this is post is one of your best for a while as it is not silly in anyway.

Anyway to the point. Nintendo came up with a fantastic idea when they formed Super Smash Bros. and Sony is really the only other company in gaming to form a vast host of playable characters. I hope Sony don't call this Sony Smash Bros. because I am sure "Smash Bros." is copyrighted.
