.ini tweaking works wonders for Skyrim. Then again, it was the same for Oblivion, people just don't care to do it. The information on how to do it properly is available and it's quite easy and fixes a lot of the problems for the PC version.
I'm not saying that Bethesda isn't to blame for releasing the game as it is (it's lacking a full month or so of beta testing), but it's not like most problems aren't fixable by the user itself. Plus, those with the PC version have access to some mods that improve a lot of stability and correct some glitches as well. After installing the 4GB mod, haven't had a single pop-up or texture loading because the game streams the full array of textures from the RAM (even after installing HD 2K textures, which are 4 times bigger than the "vanilla" textures).
