They have to. Financial climates changing.
I know it will upset some people and people will deny it. But Sony have to. To run Live and PSN costs a hell of a lot.
Also in many ways it will stop consumers being charged individually to play games online by publishers and developers. That will happen on PC, and would have likely happened to the console version. But Paying for Live will allow Microsoft to block that kind of thing for its consumers. As we already pay to play. Albeit only $40 a year.
