You know, making FPS relevant on consoles is cool and all, but man.... FPS fucking sucks these days after major devs went to consoles, massive dumb downs, auto-aim, and fucking cliche as hell. I really miss the days of super fast FPS tension action where skill is required instead of luck (look the guy can't see me atm, 3 bullets or 1 hit knife kill dead!). At least there is Tribes Ascend I guess.

Everything you said... it just oozes ignorance towards the genre.

Not sure what dumbed down means. Care to explain?

Auto aim and cliches weren't unheard of prior to this gen. Remember the N64?

Saying shooters today don't require skill is stupid. I don't even have to explain why if you spend two seconds actually thinking about it.

If you don't like games where people die quickly, I suggest you avoid military shooters. Simple as that.

I'm playing BF3 on PC, and it's the same shit, I can kill people with 3 or less bullets without them ever being able to do anything, modern FPS that has console counter parts in MP is generally not about skill but on who's not looking at you with 1s deaths, to that point, at least Halo is still somewhat respectable on that front as to most other console shooters. Dumbed down as in the general speed is super slow and the whole competition aspect is shot to shit due to the way they generally work these days. There is a reason why Halo is the only respectable competition FPS on console with the way they balanced the game, unless somebody gets a sniper rifle anyways. The only N64 shooter I played was Golden Eye, it always came down to the sniper rifle, mines, and oddjob, it was a fun party game, but it was never at the level of Quake back in the days.

I say this again like I have in other threads, try to sign up for Tribes Ascend beta, play that shit, see how well you can do on that game now that you are so pro console FPS, that will be your scale on skill based shooter. Not to mention the maps are much bigger. I have no issue with consoles when it comes to other genres, it just won't be my 1st choice when it comes to FPS or FPS game design for as long as there is PC gaming.

I have no problem with playing military shooters since my friends play them, I'm also usually on the winning team, shit's just not that challenging and I tend to fade out much faster due to boredom after 1-3 months.
