Windows phone is a joke atm. Check out the latest headline, android devices sold like 60. some million units in Q3 and its marketshare doubled from 25% to a whopping 52%.

http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/88474/android-accounts-for-majority-of-smartphone-sales-in-q3/

Compare that to 2.2 to 1.7 million decrease YoY for WP.

The only thing Microsoft is doing well in the phone space is leaching off profits from Google's successful Android platform.

I have seen this posted elsewhere, but it really isnt possible. Windows Phone did not release until November 8th 2010. What am I missing? The 1st measurement for YoY will be end of this quarter (12/31/2011).

I guess it's a bit like 1st week sales for a new game, but the game launches on a wednesday. The week is trimmed so the data is a little weak, but it's still 1st week data. I guess it's a bit the same thing for 1st-month sales here, but the worst part is that, instead of going up from 2.2 Million, it goes down with a full quarter in 2011. I'm pulling this out of my arse but I hope it helps explain a bit...

Actually looked into this more.  This for the quarter ending Sept 30th so the comparison is with Windows Mobile not even Windows Phone.  Like I said the 1st meaningful comparison will be this current quarter with next quarter even more important as all the new late 2011 early 2012 phones (Nokia phones in Europen in particular) are released.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
