You give the year head start too much credit. What most helped 360 hold a lead was PS3's high price tags.

Had the PS3 been launched at $300 - $400 (with no bluray), it would have easily surpassed the 360 and there would be no talk of a "head start."

I don't think so. Every year 1st vs 1st and 2nd vs 2nd, etc, the PS3 outsold the 360... at a higher price and even more so now with similar prices.
