When Xbox 360 released, 512mb ram looked small compared to what PCs had, but that kind of ram goes much further in a console than it ever could in a PC.
Also, why do so many people fall for Epic's marketing about the whole ' 8 GB ram and Samaritan thing'. It's the console makers that would be taking a financial hit trying to to please Epic's marketing dream, not Epic.
The console-makers put as much as they can in a console for the price point they are aiming at. They don't try to make it as powerful as possible and then think of the price.
A console with lower specs puts out much more than a PC with specs above it by virtue of being a dedicated gaming machine with software optimised for it's specific hardware.
