yeah, but i think sony wants a little edge over microsoft, while microsoft wants a little edge over sony. The PowerPC Architeture isnt that bad, of course we all know how Uberawesomeleet teh Cell is by now (sticked together 230 times to make a supercomputer that is, or combining 3 systems to perform raytracing) but after all, the sheer horsepower didnt set it that far apart from the 360, in fact, Multiplatform development suffered of the complicated systemstructure.
else, i think - sure, while they want to have amazing Multiplatform games - they want to be able to tell that their system is the best, and prove it with exclusive titles.
@Xbox: it is rumored that this thing has 2GB Ram? Isnt that a bit low? Sure, the OS will consume far less than Windows (for example) since we're talking Console here, but i think one of the most important aspects of the next gen will be highly detailed textures, and those will cost a lot of memory.
