46. Professor Layton and The Curious Village

Games like this probably represent the best use of the capabilities of the DS, with good use of the touchscreen to solve the puzzles that are all intertwined with an intriguing story. You play as Professor Layton, aided by his young assistant Luke, as they set about solving the mystery of St Mystere in pursuit of what you're told is an artifact called the Golden Apple. The residents of the village will often throw puzzles at you as you attempt to ask them questions, and there are others to solve that come up when investigating objects. It could have been higher in my list, but some of the puzzles can get a little repetitive towards the end, such as the sliding block puzzles, and once you've completed all the puzzles on offer, the game has very little replay value.
