Well many games have great stories and great characters, however many games are very linear.
Metal Gear Solid franchise.
Fallout Franchise.
Knight of the Old Republic.
FFX had such a great crazy confusing story however FF 6 and FF 7 have legendary story lines as well.
Red Dead Redemption was like a retelling of an old Western.
Uncharted had the feel of an Indiana Jones movie.
Shadow of the Colossus was such an emotional game and sooo sad.
Even if we attack current games, I do not think the storylines in the COD games is that bad. Its pretty much on par with a typical summer blockbuster.
