So, Siren finally came in the mail today and I played it for about an hour. Some initial thoughts...
1. This game is something else in the "fear" factor. I am actually disturbed by some of the elements in there. The cutscenes especially are getting to me. First time this has happened to me while playing an horror game.
2. This game is dark, and I mean dark. In the first playing sequence, I had to get away from a cop. I could not see a thing. I really don't know how I feel about the graphics. They do make the atmosphere but it's hard to see sometimes.
3. The sounds and music are awesome. Seriously, I have chills running down my spine the whole time I play. And, again, the sounds are disturbing. The whole horror japanese feeling of the game is freaking me out. It's just so...foreign...I feel lost in this game, even if I have the english version.
4. The controls are not the best. Everything is really, really basic. It works, but it's not fun. Not enough to make the game unplayable, but it could have been so much better.
5. The game is divided in episodes, similar to a tv show. You have previews at the beginning of the episode wich is then divided in chapters. I think it is a great design choice.
So far, that's it. I'll post again sometimes when I am farther in the game.
