War gets to people and they do strange things. Not defending his actions but I'm just saying nobody knows what was going on in his head at the time.
I think life, with a chance of getting out in 9 years is reasonable. If I was the judge I'd make him serve at least a mandatory 12-14 years before he could get parole though.
