They don't lower the prices on the good selling games, because they still sell well! I just bought Yoshi's Island DS new for 4,000 yen recently and that game is from 2007, I think. I just bought Super Mario 3D Land last week and I paid about 4,200 yen for it, almost the same price! I imagine in a few years it will still be selling for that price.
I bought MK Wii when it released a few years ago and the game still sells for the same price! Just like the MK DS and NSMB, the prices don't come down.
